The Story Behind the System

In 2022 the HHQ creator, Michael Dinwiddie, got his first short-term rental in Washington State and absolutely fell in love with STR management!

He was working for Expedia at the time and was in charge of designing better customer service systems. Although he loved being in the travel industry he wanted to become a full-time professional STR operator. So he did just that. He started a management business and scaled to 20 units in under 2 years and left Expedia when he started managing a 15 unit boutique hotel.

During that time he brought on multiple Filipino VA's to help, but didn't have time anymore to grow because he was always chasing information, coordinating projects, and training team members.

Michael had used Notion for task management for several years personally, so in Q4 2024 he began to build a custom template designed specifically to keep a STR operations team organized and efficient. And from that was born the Hospitality HQ template!

Now, the team spends most of their day running the business out of Hospitality HQ and Michael has been able to fully step away from daily operations and focus on business growth and family.
